Welcome
Welcome this Forum

Loger is a program that I been using for a long time in computer labs to manage user time in computers. I am currently working on a version for Windows Home Server so that it can be used to manage home users. Also some labs have reported that they would like to use their home server as a Loger Server. Currently I have a beta that I welcome anyone to try, as a thank you to the home server community for it's help I will make a free home version.

Chages:
Server - Fix manager blinking (thanks rflores)
Manager - Fix manager blinking (thanks rflores)
client - fix logoff problems (thanks rflores)

Update all prior installations of Server, Client, and Manager.

Thanks to We Got Served http://www.wegotserved.com

Loger will allow you to set a time limit that a user/s can use their account per day. Vista/Windows 7 allow you to set a times that a user can use the computer but it does not log off the user if he/she is already on. Also this allow you to combine both: set a user in vista to log on only on Monday from 2pm-6pm and set Loger to only allow that user to use the computer for one hour. So when the user logs on at 3pm he gets log off at 4pm. I am working on the ability so you can modify windows xp/vista/win7 right from this program.

Copy to your Home Server C: Drive and follow instructions in read me files. Install Server first then install the client/s or manager/s.

Server.exe makes a file in the c: drive in your home server do not modify it. This file contains the server ip and ports to use: 1331,1332,1333,1334. Make sure that these ports are open in your firewall. I will add a way to modify these later.

Please give feedback on this forum, this version has no user limit and it expires June 2009. I should have an update by then. Please remember that this is a beta release, use at your own risk.

Loger consist of three parts:

Server - This is to be installed in your Home Server I am working on an add-in but for this Beta I just want to make this as solid as possible before moving on.
ImageImage

Manager - This is to be installed and use in any machine including the home server that you want to manage users on. I am trying to have the home server add-in also have the manager built in.
ImageImage

Client - This is to be installed in machines that you want to monitor users usage time.

Hello,

Seems to be a nice add-in. :) I tried to install on the server but the installation always tell me that some files on my server are out of date and proposes to update them and then restart the server. I restarted already 4 times now and I still get this message.

My server is up to date so I don't know what the problem would be :)

Greetings,

Nic

If you are getting version conflicts click yes. This means that the server has these files already installed. You might get this a couple of times. Another error you might get is that the files is in use, this also means that the file is already in your computer so you can hit ignore. Can you tell more of that the message says in when it asks you to update. What files are out of date?

It happens at the first stage of the setup when trying to install the 8th file (msvbvm60.dll). There it always says that setup cannot continue because some files are out of date on my system. I choose ok to update them, then restart the server. Next setup holds again at the 8th file and so it goes on.

Grtz,

Nic

Cyberke I just posted an update hope that this helps you first you might want to try to manually copy these files from http://jcerna.com/Loger/originaldllfileshomeserver.zip to c:\windows\system32. They are the original files from home server before loger was installed. Also check you add and remove program and make sure that Loger Server is not in the list, if it is uninstall it before installing new version.

Thanks for your support

Cernajose,

Now the installation went fine, no more problems. But when I try to run the server (C:\Program Files\Loger\Server.exe) it tells me "This Beta Trial has Expired".

Grtz,

Nic
